Alex is a Senior Associate at Highland focusing on companies with novel business models that utilize information technology and physical sciences, with a special interest in resource and process efficiency and the advanced materials sectors.
Background
Prior to joining Highland, Alex worked as a research and teaching assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Magnetic Materials & Devices Group. At MIT, he synthesized and characterized a new class of magneto-optical perovskites capable of growth on semiconductor-compatible substrates. His results were published in several notable peer-reviewed journals.
Previously, Alex was a summer associate with RockPort Capital Partners, a venture capital firm focused exclusively on energy technology, and with McKinsey & Company, where he provided strategic advice on business technology issues.
Alex currently serves as the President of the MIT Department of Materials Science & Engineering Alumni Association, an organization focused on building the community of MIT materials science alumni in the Boston area and beyond.
