Leap Motion, a leader in 3D Motion technology that will transform the way people interact with computers, is seeking an intelligent and enthusiastic individual to work in Leap Motion’s OEM & Licensing Division, responsible for working with strategic partners globally that wish to embed our technology into their products.

The Business Development Manager will serve an important role assessing existing and potential partners and verticals for the deployment of Leap Motion technology. The individual will identify, evaluate and recommend partners, and analyze, model and structure deal parameters and terms. The individual will work with members of the product marketing, engineering, and legal teams to track key tasks, work product, and partner objectives to manage the deal process to align roadmaps and launch strategies.

The individual must have excellent business negotiation, writing, presentation, and modeling skills, working easily in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Salesforce — as well as have great enthusiasm for new technology.

Primary Duties:
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend prospective partners and verticals for business development opportunities. Specific vertical industry knowledge a plus (ex. medical, government & defense, digital home & consumer electronics, enterprise, PC, mobile, telephony, etc.)
• Analyze, model and structure the most suitable deal structure and terms for each vertical and partner.
• Develop detailed financial projections for each partnership with sensitivities for key variables.
• Understand business and technical aspects of competitive products and create deal structures to surpass them.
• Develop strategic presentations for partners and key stakeholders in the ecosystem including OEM customers, supply chain partners and partner technologies.
• Help negotiate license, evaluation, nondisclosure and development agreements.
• Coordinate business development efforts with engineering and legal teams, obtaining assistance while managing internal resources efficiently.
• Project manage and track communications with and deliverables to partners.
• Manage inquiries and respond to requests from prospective partners.
• Track the performance of each partnership against key targets, manage and build existing partnerships over time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (technical background preferred), 3-5 years experience in business development with a startup strongly preferred. Consulting, investment banking, and strategic planning with a focus on technology also considered.
• Must be both business and tech-savvy. Equally comfortable discussing deal terms with high level management and hardware/software issues with engineers.
• Experience with HCI (Human Computer Interaction) and User eXperience / Usability product development
• Ability to manage and track multiple discussions with and deliverables to large prospective partners, working across organizational functions from engineering, marketing and executive levels. Familiarity with Salesforce to manage accounts.
• Some experience working with OEM manufacturers, structuring licensing/integration deals is a plus.
• Some experience with embedded technology and manufacturing processes a plus Strong modeling and presentation skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
