Robot Perception Software Engineer Mission & Responsibilities The algorithms team at Rethink Robotics is responsible for the design and implementation of many core capabilities that make our robots intelligent. We provide and integrate the technology that enables Rethink robots to perceive, manipulate and adapt to the world around them. The team is composed of engineers with backgrounds including computer vision, machine learning, artificial intelligence and robotics. We’re looking for someone with strong software engineering skills who is passionate about computer vision and general robot perception to: - Design and implement efficient algorithms for organization, identification and interpretation of robot sensory information - Develop solutions for visual object modeling, detection, recognition and tracking - Rapidly prototype vision and other sensing algorithms - Transition proven approaches to solid production code - Maintain, document, integrate and test production code. Qualifications: - Solid background in computer science and software engineering - Passion for robotics - Comfortable in a Linux based development environment - Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences - MS or PhD in computer science preferred - Strong background in computer vision - Background in robotics is a strong plus - Experience with industrial machine vision systems is desirable - Excellent C++ programming - Familiarity with python and other scripting languages is a plus.
