Senior Functional Test Engineer

As a result, organizations are struggling to contain rising storage acquisition costs as well as operational expenses such as power, cooling and datacenter space. A new solution is needed to optimize online content and reduce digital footprint. Ocarina Networks is funded by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Highland Capital Partners, and is tooled up to pioneer the emerging file area network. Job Summary: Ocarina Networks has a newly created position for a Senior Functional Test Engineer for its line of storage optimization appliances. Responsibilities include writing and executing functional test plans in both Linux and Windows environments. This position affords close interaction with our development teams to resolve issues identified during functional testing. Ocarina’s storage optimization appliances are to be deployed in a myriad of customer storage environments in conjunction with multiple NAS and RAID hardware from different vendors; thus, the functional test plan in anticipation of each customer deployment will be unique. This position affords the opportunity to work with a wide variety of storage hardware, along with many different networking, clustering, replication, and backup strategies.

Qualifications:

This position requires: Hands-on experience in development and test lab environments and demonstrated understanding of product architecture for component testing. Storage testing experience, especially with NAS, but also with any or all of SAN, clustering, replication, RAID, and backup strategies. The successful candidate will understand clustering and know its typical issues. Experience configuring, troubleshooting and operating storage in a Linux environment. Ability to understand and troubleshoot Perl scripts. Ability to conduct disciplined testing of product versions in multiple storage environments. Windows experience is a plus.
