Position Overview:
Reporting to the Vice President of Software Engineering, the Senior Software Engineer is responsible for the specification, design and creation of new software products and the maintenance and enhancement of our existing product line. The individual in this role will function as the lead J2EE infrastructure resource for a given product or module, providing guidance and architectural direction for these server-side components.
Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for being the senior server-side technical resource for a defined set of Bullhorn products or product modules. When required, will oversee other engineer’s designs and implementations and will be responsible for ensuring use of architectural best-practices and overall product quality

Responsible for providing guidance and mentorship to junior developers, collaborating on functional requirements, and coordinating team deliverables.

Act as a senior resource on the team, designing, specifying and developing software applications.
o These will include both front end interfaces and business logic components, and will be done using J2EE technologies

Responsible for maintaining the vision of the software product to ensure design decisions factor into the long term goals for the product while balancing the concerns for time to market, product quality, and end customer satisfaction.

Responsible for staying current on the latest software and networking processes, tools, and methods, and for making recommendations on how these advances can be applied to the current products and engineering practices

Write internal and external documentation and specifications as required
BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field required
7+ years of software development experience including prior experience of Object Oriented, Data-Driven Software Application Development required
Enterprise class product-experience, and a track record building large scale web applications using J2EE preferred
Experience utilizing cutting-edge Software Development processes such as Extreme Programming and Agile Programming strongly desired.
Strong project management skills and experience, and a track record of successfully delivering software products both on time and on budget
Experience developing high volume, mission critical applications in an Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or Application Service Provider (ASP) delivery model is highly desired
Must have enterprise class product-experience, and a track record building large scale web applications using J2EE
Must have specific knowledge of and experience with the following open source projects: JBoss, Tomcat, Spring
Must have prior experience writing applications that use JMS, EJB’s, MDB’s
Must have experience with web technologies and frameworks (JSP, CFML, ASP, .NET)
Experience with Subversion source control and Ant build scripting is a plus
Experience with email systems and protocols is a plus
Must have strong knowledge of JDBC and database programming
Must have demonstrated ability to work independently within a team environment
