Hangout Industries is a leading-edge start-up with unlimited potential in the 3D social media and games industry located in Los Angeles, CA. Our product was recently showcased at TechCrunch50 and we were nominated as one of this year's 10 coolest companies. Hangout Industries is looking for an exceptionally skilled 2D Artist to create high quality and polished art used in the presentation of our up-and-coming 3D environment. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in traditional arts, with excellent fundamental graphic design and web design skills including presentation, layout, composition, color, and readability. Responsibilities: • Participate in visual design & presentation of Hangout properties from conceptualization to final deliverables. • Produce concept artwork to convey the style, theme, and general look and feel of experiences & assets. • Define visual style and art assets for franchise marketing materials, including presentations and website instantiations. • Work in conjunction with designers to create and implement UI of Hangout Industries game & web presentations including Facebook integration. • Periodic production of concept art and 3D elements. • Work with the entire team to problem-solve technical and aesthetic issues.

Requirements: • 2-5 years of professional experience as a 2D Artist working in game development, interactive entertainment or web development. • Strong illustration skills with an eye for lighting, form, color and detail. • Comprehensive understanding of 2D, illustration, layout and graphic design skills, as well as animated interface elements and web design/HTML. • Highly proficient in Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator. • Ability to use Flash and ActionScript to create Flash elements for websites as well as rapid prototyping of working UI. • Proven ability to conceptualize, design, and produce game art assets. • Minimum of 2-3 years of post-secondary traditional art training, preferably with a certificate or BA in Graphic Design, Interactive Design or Fine Arts. • Self-motivated and proactive.
