The Merchandise Analyst is a key position designed to support leading analysis on operational performance in the Merchandise organization. This Analyst will perform data gathering, analysis, and reporting of key performance indicators, metrics, forecasts and actual results related to the operations of the Merchandise organization. This role will work with the Merchandising team by providing critical and timely information on performance results to plan and forecast, inventory efficiency, promotional results, ad-hoc reporting to identify opportunities for improvements and summarization of strategic and operational business plans.
Use data to analyze merchandise sales results supporting the Merchandising organization to identify opportunities and improve performance.
Work with Director of Planning and Allocation to ensure information is produced in sync with expectations for daily, weekly, quarterly and annual reviews and planning seasons and communicate results.
Provide key information required in developing yearly sales, margin, and inventory plans based on historical performance, forecasts, planned changes in management and strategy and overall corporate direction.
Report focus is on projected sales and orders; actual sales; inventory analysis from a store, warehouse and chain level; margin fluctuations; class, department and division level; and silo analysis.
Ad-hoc reporting requests.
Provide analysis of historical data to maximize sales and profitability.
Forecast ideal store inventory levels for new store openings by creating reports to document orders and pre-allocated levels of inventory.
Facilitates communication between merchandising and planning to meet business objectives.
Develops time estimates driven through a calendar to complete required activities.
Hands-on approach to business; roll up your sleeves and get involved in all aspects of the business.
Develop relationships with buyers, planners and finance interact regularly to meet deadlines.
Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
2 3 years in Finance/Accounting with at least 2 years in financial planning.
Retail experience a plus.
Extensive use of excel and database management including but not limited to metacube, crystal reports and apropos.
High proficiency with analytical tools (Microsoft Office excel, PP)
Experience with retail planning system a plus (i.e. ANT; JDA; Crystal)
Ability to manage time effectively to deal with immediate needs of business and complete weekly tasks.
Ability to analyze data, identify opportunities and prioritize based on an understanding of merchandising strategies and objectives.
