Michael Cam-Phung

Associate

Michael is an Associate with the Highland Consumer Fund focusing on consumer goods, services and specialty retailers. He is actively involved in the Highland Consumer Fund's interests in City Sports, Pharmaca, Life Gear and Guitar Center.

 

Background

Prior to joining Highland, Michael was a Senior Analyst in the Consumer & Retail Corporate Finance Group at William Blair & Company. During this time, Michael primarily focused on mergers & acquisitions, and public equity offerings for retailers and consumer products brands. Michael was an integral member of the team advising London-based private equity firm Emerisque Capital and India-based textile manufacturer S. Kumars Nationwide Ltd. on their successful stalking horse bid for Hartmarx Corp./Hickey Freeman. The acquisition was recognized as the Cross-Border Special Situation M&A Deal of the Year.

 

While at William Blair, Michael was actively involved in the Highland-backed investments Pharmaca and YogaWorks.

Interests

Michael currently lives in Boston’s Back Bay and spends his free time following baseball, trying out new restaurants and traveling. Michael is also a mentor for Minds Matter, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to help accomplished high school students from low-income families broaden their dreams and prepare for college success.
