Latest Release of NxTop Includes Near-Native Virtual Machine Performance and Deployment Options to Propel End-User Adoption
Westford, Mass. – December 15, 2009 — PDF - Virtual Computer Inc., the company redefining PC lifecycle management through virtualization, today announced an update pack to its award-winning NxTop desktop virtualization solution that will enable broad scale adoption. As organizations of all sizes evaluate client-side virtualization to reduce costs and increase reliability and security of their distributed computers, this latest NxTop release furthers Virtual Computer’s lead in this fast-growing market.
"While our competition struggles to bring their beta products to market, NxTop users benefit from over a year of field use and product feedback from IT administrators and end-users alike," said Dan McCall, president and CEO of Virtual Computer. "These real-world deployments have enabled us to move beyond basics and on to the advanced features required for wide scale adoption."
The NxTop Release 1.2 update pack performance improvements and feature enhancements include:
-
Overall system performance that exceeds 90 percent of native using standard PC benchmarks that simulate corporate workloads. This includes 98 percent of native performance on networking, full multi-core processor support, three-second suspend/resume of the platform, and improved battery life for laptop users. The result is an end-user computing experience running on NxTop that is nearly indistinguishable from a native machine.
-
New client-side installation options to ease adoption of the NxTop solution. This includes a non-destructive dual-boot feature that allows NxTop Engine to be installed alongside a native Windows operating system. This mode can be used effectively with contractors or for simple trials of the technology in real-world situations with end-users.
"As an early adopter of NxTop, I saw great potential in its ability to both reduce my PC management costs and protect sensitive data on laptop PCs," said John Cook, systems administrator at Partnership for Strong Families of Gainesville, FL. "Virtual Computer embraced me as a true development partner, and thanks to a steady stream of product updates like the NxTop 1.2 update pack, I have nearly half of my laptops on NxTop with more coming online each week."
The NxTop 1.2 update pack will be released to customers this week via the NxTop customer portal. Prospective customers who would like to evaluate or purchase NxTop may request more information at http://www.virtualcomputer.com/Products/purchase or by calling (978) 399-1199.
