Highland Capital Partners Announces Appointments of Jon Auerbach
and Fergal Mullen to General Partner
LEXINGTON, MA – May 24, 2004 – Highland Capital
Partners, a leading venture capital firm, today announced that Jon Auerbach
and Fergal Mullen have been promoted to the position of General Partner. The
move reflects Highland’s active investment strategy and continued growth
plans.

Jon Auerbach has been with the firm since 2000 and focuses on investments in the communications sector, specializing in wireless infrastructure opportunities. He has led or co-led Highland’s investments in Kodeos Communications, Optasite, SmartLink Radio Networks, Starent Networks and Tatara Systems. With a background as a business journalist covering the wireless industry for the Wall Street Journal and the Boston Globe, Jon brings to bear strong relationships and unique perspective on behalf of his portfolio companies and the firm. Jon is also a distinguished presenter on wireless and technology trends worldwide, and has been a featured speaker at industry conferences such as CTIA, GSM World and WCNC.

Fergal focuses on software and services companies in North America and Europe. He currently represents Highland on the boards of VistaPrint, Coremetrics, M7, ELEVEN Technology and Topica, and is actively involved with Performix Technologies. Fergal brings a blend of operations, venture and international experience to his investments, and is well positioned to work with both early and growth stage management teams to help build leading companies. Before joining Highland, Fergal served as Founding Partner of RSA Ventures, the corporate venture fund of RSA Security Inc. Prior to that, he was Senior Vice President at Cambridge Technology Partners, where he was among the core founding team. In 1993 he launched their European operations and ultimately held operating responsibility for that business.
