What is the single biggest challenge new CEOs face?

Answered by: Peter Bell

When I was a first-time CEO, I faced two big challenges:

1. Dealing with the loneliness. Sometimes important decisions solely rest with the CEO – and that can be both exciting but also lonely. I encourage CEOs to have a strong but small set of mentors.

2. Managing all the different stakeholders, from customers, employees and press to investors, partners and board members, and effectively communicating with these various stakeholders and meeting sometimes divergent sets of expectations.
