- Game optimized for every Android tablet and smartphone released in last 2 years
Over 100 million people have played Diamond Dash on mobile and web to date, and now Android users will be able to join the fun. Launching today, Diamond Dash is available to download for Android smartphones and tablets.
Since launching in March 2011, 70 million players have played the hit social arcade game on the web, with over 30 million players downloading the game to play on their iPhone or iPad. Diamond Dash continues to grow sustainably and prove itself as a long term hit amongst social gamers with over one billion minutes of Diamond Dash played by users worldwide every month. Anticipation amongst Android users is similarly impressive; 850,000 users have signed up for email updates since the registration page went live three weeks ago.
Diamond Dash gives players 60 seconds to match colorful gems, unleash special boosts and compete with friends. Weekly tournaments allow players to compete for the highest score and reward the top 3 players with one of the coveted gold, silver or bronze medals. The Android version of the game brings the full spectrum of social connectivity to the title, allowing players to compete with their friends via Facebook Login and enjoy seamless offline functionality.
Wooga founder and CEO Jens Begemann is excited about bringing Diamond Dash to a new audience. “Diamond Dash launching on the Android platform makes good on Wooga’s promise to bring social, connected gaming to a larger audience than ever before. The focus of the development team was to bring a brilliantly polished gameplay experience to nearly all Android smartphones and tablets released in the last two years and I’m happy to say they have succeeded. That is a huge undertaking and one that we believe will set Diamond Dash apart on the platform.”
With early estimates projecting that the total amount of Android smartphones and tablets will surpass the one billion mark in 2013 and reach three billion devices in 2016 (source: IHS), Wooga is confident that Diamond Dash for Android will spur the game on to even greater success.
The launch of Diamond Dash for Android follows hot on the heels of Diamond Dash and Bubble Island launching on mobile and continues Wooga’s strategy to successfully position itself in the competitive mobile market. Recently growing to 250 employees with a 60/40 split between mobile and web, Wooga has hit its growth target set at the beginning of the year and continues to grow sustainably.
